a senseless tragedy |
I'm sure you've all heard the news by now on this heinous crime considered to be the worst mass shooting in American history. When I heard of the news earlier, I was left speechless. This was a movie event that many were anticipating, people of various ages, races, backgrounds, just wanting to go the theaters and escape reality for a couple of hours. There were even a few garbed in Batman-inspired costumes and clothing; these people just wanted to take pleasure in this beloved comic franchise. So this asshole of all assholes decides to barge in minutes into the movie and unleash a carnage of nefarious proportions opening a continuous stream of gunfire on an audience who initially believed it to be a publicity stunt; just all part of the show.
The fact that shooter James Holmes stated that he was 'The Joker' makes this devastating act of violence even worse. These people attended a midnight screening because they wanted to be one of the first of many to witness a long awaited film. They simply just wanted to enjoy this movie. James Holmes, your motive is still undetermined, but your act can never be forgiven. You are evil incarnate. To think that you liken yourself to Batman's greatest villain. Your comments light an anger within me that cannot be easily put out. I am just so pissed off. A lot of planning went into your crime, it was premeditated, it was thought out and methodical. Hey whackjob, in case you're too damn nuts, that isn't the Joker's M.O. If Batman's famous baddie was true to life, he would never be associated with you. Damn you James Holmes.
Sorry, I'm just ranting now, just so affected by this and I apologize if some parts of this post may have gotten out of hand. Director Christopher Nolan recently released the most sincere statement I've ever read. My hats off to this wonderful man, he didn't even wait for his PR team. You sir, are a class act. Thank you for not only the many accomplishments you have garnered professionally, but mainly for your genuine sympathy.
"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community.
I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime.
The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me.
Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."
Thank you |
I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the friends and family's of the victims.
